In the first half of 2016, my husband and I prepared 100 meals for our friends, family and neighbors to celebrate our home’s 100th birthday, and I learned eight important lessons along the way. We hosted a big party to celebrate the whole ordeal, and it was divine.
I’m a graduate of Purdue University where I majored in agricultural communications, and the four years I spent there shaped my life in ways I don’t fully understand yet. I did a series about my time at Purdue, and you can read about my experience studying agriculture, my research and journalism work, the joy I discovered in food and hospitality, and the ways my faith and ag studies came together.
Writing about agriculture and talking with the men and women involved in the production of our food, fiber and fuel is a great joy. My countless conversations with farmers have taught me a lot about work and place. It’s also been a privilege to chat with some ag professionals about their faith at The Gospel Coalition, and I was even interviewed about my work.
I currently make my home in a small city within Cincinnati. Leaving my home of 23+ years and moving to Cincinnati was a challenge, a season of fallow. But, it’s starting to feel like home, and I even have a list of favorite places where I like to eat, drink and visit.
