Similar to the author of today’s article, I remember my mom drinking LaCroix when I was a child. It was the type of beverage I had no interest in due the intense carbonation and lack of sweetness.
Today’s article traces the rise of LaCroix from its decidedly soccer-mom beginnings and questions where it will go from here. The author draws attention to why LaCroix became popular, how it has become status symbol and hints that the water may be falling in popularity as drinkers turn to other brands.
Since I’ve been out of college, I’ve come to appreciate sparkling water. I avoid LaCroix though, opting for the more affordable sparkling water from of my local grocery store’s brand and from Trader Joe’s or Aldi. And when I was at party last Saturday evening, I drank Polar brand sparkling water. Maybe (for once in my life) I’ll be ahead of a trend.
